Tell me your thoughts on the name Sage for a girl

WDYT? Top 50 names are completely NMS (sometimes I do like them on other people's kids though), and I love that this name is short, simple, kind of earthy, unusual (not even top 450), etc. I'm not sure it's "THE" name yet, but it's kind of growing on me. (Why do girl names have to be so tough????)

MN is very set unless we do something like Evelynne, which is really too popular for me anyway, but DH kind of likes it or Jocelynne. So, unless we go with one of those two names, mn will be Lynne for sentimental reasons. I haven't really gotten that far with Sage to consider the pairing yet. I'm still trying to decide if I like the fn for now. Smile

I'm a little cheesy but the first thing I thought was, "Ohh if she has a boy later she can name him Basil." I'm awful... I know. But, I do like it. It's simple and for some reason makes me happy.

I had a 9th grader last year named Sage and she was one of the sweetest, most responsible girls in her class. I think the name fit her - it is unique without being weird.

I mean no offense by this, but my Grandpa's middle name was Sage. I would have never thought of it for a girl (although if it wasn't gpa's name, I probably wouldn't have thought of it at all).
