Trouble TTC

Stressed & undecided???

Hi ladies!!

So, hubby & i have been TTC for 6 months.  EVERY month i track my cycle, take ovulation tests, and we do it when we should.  My doc said i'm fine & it should happen.  EVERY OTHER month my ovulation tests ALL come up negative.  Basically saying i'm not ovulating.  I'm getting my period, so DUH... that means ovulation, right??

I dont know if i'm using the wrong kinda test... drinking too many fluids... taking them at the wrong time of day.

I dont know!!

One day i wake up & want a baby SO bad... the next... i'm not so sure.   But i KNOW my life would not be full until i do.   So, i want to.. most of the time.  Thats not the problem tho, cuz i know everyone has that.  Right?

I just feel bad.  One month i'm like "lets just see what happens"... the next month, i'm ALL over hubby.  Trying to force it.  I TRY to let "mother nature" decide... but when the B*&%$ is taking too long, i feel inadequit and wanna force it.  :(

I dont know!!!     :(

ALL of my friends & family swear they got pregnant the very first time.   What the heck are we doing wrong?   I really dont want hubby to have to get tested, because he would avoid it at all costs.. and i know its WAY harder on men than woman....    Then again... can't blame him just yet... cuz according to these stupid pee sticks all over my bathroom, i bleed, but dont ovulate.   GGGGGGRRRRRR

ALSO... my period is off by a few days each month.  So, i KNOW i'm hard to track.  But i'm not peeing on sticks everyday for the fun of it.   :(

I dont know!   :(

Sorry......

  • It is possible to have an anovulatory cycle where you do not ovulate, but still get a period.  I would try basal body temperature charting.  I really like fertilityfriend.com.  You can find a basal thermometer at Target for under $10.

The rest of the post has confused me.

  • That was kind of a long ramble, but first of all, yes, you can get a period and NOT actually ovulate.  Second of all, do some sould searching because if you aren't 110% ready then you shouldn't be trying, so don't rush it.  Wanting a baby "so bad" and being ready to start a family are two different things.  Thirdly, yep, it does seem like most people get pg on the first try, which is really frustrating for the few of us who don't.  And lastly, what's the big deal if your DH gets tested?  It's not "harder" on men than on women at all.  A guy has to do his business into a cup... compared to an Hysterosalpingogram (HSG), it's a piece of cake (google it if you have to).

Do some research, decide if you are really ready for a child, buy the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility".  Good luck.
  • got a giggle with that.... My husband complained about the s/a and then I told him about the HSG and how god awful that pain was... he shut up....
  • I got a giggle too... DH and I went to a fertility planning type appointment with doc recently to find out what we need to do next since TTC for over a year isn't happening. She described the HSG and I swear DH turned white. He's done the SA. No complaints out of him for having to do it!

Kat201, I would seriously wait. Get insurance, then go from there. L&D is onwards of $8000, not including all the pre-term and post-tem baby stuff. Knowing your family history should be key in your decision. Be smart about it. You'll feel less stressed in the long run. Perhaps see a doctor at you local county public heath centers.

  • good point about the insurance.... I can tell you that without my insurance this past year I would be in over a million in hospital/medical bills. That does not inculude the RE or basic MD appointments.
  • I've heard a lot of people saying to go to fertilityfriend.com, but i like books or magazines better. conceive is an awesome mag. but, it sounds like maybe you should familiarize yourself a little more with the exacts of getting preggo.

my husband is 7 years older than me, and i know he wants to still be able to play with our kids and everything, but sometimes I too am thinking OMG! I'M ONLY 24!!!! so, yeah i feel ya on that part!

  • the only thing i can add as i agree with all other posts for the most part is that you should be tracking of some sort and also when you are in the "zone days" i would say use OPKs at least 2x a day you may just be missing it when you are testing.
