3rd Trimester

Do you still get internal exams if ..

you're a planned c/s?  It doesn't matter if I progress or not, but they probably want to know if I am, but just wondering.

Re: Do you still get internal exams if ..

  • I had one yesterday, and I'm having a planned c-section.  I have been feeling a lot of pressure, so my doc decided to check it out.  No dialation though!  :(

  • My dr said my only internal will be at around 36 weeks to check for something (not too sure what that is, lol).  But other then that, I don't think they do it anymore after the that.  Not too sure though. lol

  • This totally depends on your OB.  Some will do one internal for a baseline comparator (just in case you end up going into labor naturally before your planned c-section); some will do regular internals to check to see if you're progressing naturally (again, just in case).  So if you're really curious, ask your doctor.

  • My OB did not do an internal at 36 weeks and said he wouldn't be doing them as my c/s was planned. I went into labor 2 days after that appt. though, lol.
  • I have because if there was considerable progress they would hav moved up the date.
  • I'm having weekly internals and am having a planned c/s.  If I were to suddenly have a bunch of progress we'd look at moving up my c/s.  Odd to go in hoping for NO progress!  :)

  • My doctor did one at 36w when she did the GBS swab and has not done one since (and my c-section is today).
