Trusting online playgroups??

So at The Little Gym class there were 3 moms who all signed up together b/c they are apart of an online playgroup message board.  I of course went home and joined immediatly Big Smile  Next week we're meeting at the mall to walk/talk, they seem nice but how long would you wait b/f asking them over for a home playdate?

Re: Trusting online playgroups??

  • i run a mommy board locally. I started it when I had DD#1 and needed some mommy friends. We try to meetup once before having anyone over to the house. If you feel more comfortable you can attend a PG at their house first.

I think I would feel more comfortable if I had control of the settings on the board, right now everything is public and I'm not about to write down my address!  I sent a PM to the organizer and hopefully she'll change it...we'll see

  • I think the way it works is you all join, then if you say yes for a playdate then they send you your address.  DD and I did one, and that's the way it worked for us.  I mean I guess that doesn't make it any better, but there was a screening process to get on the meetup group.
  • Yes, when I hosting a PG I put up the time and date in a RSVP thread and ask that people PM me for my address.  never put it out on the board for the world to see.
