measuring ahead?

So at 35/35, I am officially measuring at over 40 weeks now. I am having an ultrasound Friday to make sure everything is a-ok in there and check baby's measurements. I don't have GD or anything else (that we know of) that would influence my size. Anyone else measuring big? If so, why? Thanks.

Re: measuring ahead?

  • LO had been measuring big for a while now. Everytime he checks, my OB just says, "she's such a big baby" I don't have GD but he said it's more than likely she's just a healthy growing baby. He never seems concerned about it. But, I'll have more U/S's to check and make sure since my OB said he wants to "prevent me from having a 12lb baby."

  • i just started measuring 2 weeks ahead... They said baby could be having a growth spurt (which I wouldn't doubt I can FEEL her getting bigger) or I'm going to have a big baby...
  • My 1st was 10lbs 6 oz delivered at 40 weeks.  I didn't have GD with my first or with the current PG.  My doctor said we just "make big babies."  DS measured in the 95% for weight and height until he started crawling.  Now, at over a year he is between 50-75%.  So I wouldn't worry as long as the baby is healthy.  GL!
  • I measured 6 weeks ahead at my appointment last week. ( I was 26 weeks but measuring at 32). I had an u/s that afternoon and the baby is normal size. I go back on wednesday and hopefully I will find out then. I know sometimes women measure a couple weeks ahead. It is a possible mis-measurement on the doctors part, or maybe a growth spurt
  • I too am measuring big, they thing think that it was a growth spurt, and if at my next apt. she is still big we will have a u/s and talk about altering the Due date
  • yep, i had a growth u/s today b/c my belly is measuring ahead...baby is about one pound larger than average for 30 weeks (4 lbs instead of 3)....the u/s was after the doc appt so i'm not sure why i'm measuring big but the women in my family make big babies so i'm guessing that's what it is b/c my fluid levels are fine and i don't have GD

  • I knew someone that measured 5 weeks ahead because she was actually farther along them she thought.
  • i always measure ahead (did with dd #1 and this LO).  anywhere from just a couple wks to at one point 5 wks ahead.  with both, i had u/s to check on baby...always normal.  no extra fluid, no GD, nada.

dd was 6lbs 9ozs at birth.

all that being said, i am only 5'1" and 105 prepg.  i have a short torso. i just carry babies way out there :(
