I know weight gain isn't our favorite topic on the Boards but I'm feeling a little down. I just got back from my 24 week OBGYN visit (I'm actually 23w4d) and I've gained a total of 21 pounds. My starting weight was 130. These last two appointments I've gained 10 pounds in 4 weeks. My doctor said I need to really watch it. She is worried about the rapid weight gain. I never had any morning sickness and I am always hungry. I'm just wondering if anyone else can relate. I work out 3 days a week too, doing the elliptical for 30 minutes. Also, if anyone can recommend healthy, low fat/carb snack foods that actually fill you up.
Thanks for listening ladies.

I feel ya chica! was up 6lbs till 17 weeks then 18lbs at 21 week apt BUT I have been lucky to only gain 1lb since. My Dr said combo of Holidays and baby growth spurt and not to worry about it. I ran through my first 4months so dr said my body just was trying to "catch up" She says not to worry and she wants me to stay under 30lbs total wich she said is still doable and if I go over a bit no big.
Try not to stress. I know it's hard to see some stay SUPER thin through this point but we are all diff and as long as you are working out and eating well then you are good
Here if you ever need
I'm only 14 wks so I am not there yet, but I can definitely relate to being hungry ALL the time!! I have found that if I pair a carb with a little protein for a snack (apple/pb; cheese/whole wheat cracker) and choose foods high in fiber (Oatmeal helps fill me up in am with a little milk) that helps satisfy me longer than just reaching for a piece of fruit which lasts like 20 minutes!
don't be hard on yourself either, some of it could be water retention- I knew a girl who gained 20lbs in the 1st tri and lost 45 lbs after the baby was born!!
HTH!!
This is my second pregnancy, mind you, but I am 165lbs right now at almost 27 weeks and I started off at 127lbs. . .I feel like a big ol' fatty! lol.
I know some people don't like weight gain threads, but I don't mind them. Having your body change so rapidly is really hard to wrap your brain around sometimes (or at least, it definitely has been for me) so it's nice to get a little support and feedback. *hugs*
I don't have any brilliant advice, unfortunately. I've been eating lots of fruit and yogurt as snacks. They're pretty filling and guilt-free. I also buy ice cream in the little tiny "school cafeteria" cups. They're only 100 calories and pretty awesome.
Overall I'd say try not to fret too much. You can always worry about it AFTER baby comes!
Really? Even w/ aspartame? What about just drinking water?

I feel so much better----
I started out at 130 and I am now 146 at week 22. So 16lbs in 22 weeks. The Doctor is advising me to watch it, he said I was on track to gain about 35 lbs but he would prefer me to gain only 30 or less.
I don't know- it could be much much worse. But still it is unerving to watch the scale go up. As for tips- one thing i noticed is I am really thirsty a lot and sometimes I eat when I am really just hungry. In terms of healthy snacks- veggies (celery and carrots) and hummus. Whole grain cereal with fresh fruit, plain yogurt. I also try to have lots of salad (strawberry and spinach is my favorite).
and i don't mind posts about weight- sometimes it's nice to know you aren't the only one not gaining as per the guideline.
The water is an assumption.
I'm 25 weeks and at my doctor's appt yesterday I had gained 24 lbs - I went from 115 to 139. I haven't changed m eating habits at all and I feel good about how I look. My doctor hasn't said anything to me about being concerned, so I'm not. I'm sure your doctor knows best, but I just hope that they are not worrying you unnecessarily. As far as snacks, I mainly eat (and did before I was pregnant) celery and ranch dip, cheese, fruit, and peanut butter crackers. Here is what I looked like pre-pregnancy:
And here I am now with 15 weeks left to go!:
Hope that helps, GL to you!
