How very un-EF...

I'm being a little judgey.

Has anyone seen those packaged sliced apples you can buy? Well, my manager was just saying that she hasn't liked the kind she bought because they tasted funny (I'm sure they have to add chemicals to keep the apples from browning.) Well, she was all happy because she found them at Costco and they don't taste funny... so now she can buy them in bulk.

Seriously, how hard is it to slice an apple? Also, I can't imagine how much more you end up paying to not get the core and have the extra packaging.

Hmm, I think maybe someone needs to get rid of string cheese like they did with paper towels! Wink

  • I know - I have always found them bizarre.  Particularly because they're ridiculously expensive.  Besides, I don't even slice my apples!  I just eat them!

I slice mine in the mornings, put them in a reusable container, and eat them as a snack. But, I would never buy presliced apples... I wouldn't have even done that before I became EF!

::blushes:: Weelll you know I might have purchased just such a thing once or twice. But I AM admittedly lazy.

Really the only time I buy them is if I start getting a craving for something not-so-good at the store. Then I will buy those to munch on in the car as opposed to chips/crackers etc. But yeah, you're right definitely not EF.

  • Sounds like someone needs an apple core-er/slicer thingy as a present... I don't have one but I love them. My gums are sensitive so I almost never just eat an apple as-is. I can't imagine buying those...

  • I didn't know you could actually buy those at the store Indifferent I thought they were only at places like Subway/ McDonalds for the kids meals.

  • I get them for DD at Subway or BK/McDs but I don't buy them in the store.
  • Ditto on the slicer - exact same result as the pre-packaged slices except it doesn't require refrigeration or packaging... and I'm pretty sure that it takes no more time than it would to open the package!

  • Yeah, it is weird.  My Mom buys those for my niece - I think the ones at Costco are organic.  I just buy whole apples though.

  • I bought them once at Trader Joe's and DD wouldn't touch them. They even SMELLED like chemicals to me.
