We have both b/c dh really wanted a bjorn.

But, I have conerns with the stress it puts on the baby's joints. So I personally wouldn't use it as much as the Moby.

I'm making my moby after he gets a little older I'm switching to a mei tai. Bjorns have no support for both mother and baby.

This exactly! Also, if you have a large chest the bjorn is ridiculous. I would have one gigantic boob sticking out of each side of it.

I love the 'moby' (we don't use an actual moby, but a stretchy wrap) for the newborn stage, and a SSC (soft structured carrier - but NOT a bjorn) or mei tai after that. I wouldn't use a bjorn if you paid me. Not only does it leave baby hanging by his crotch (which can cause hip issues), but it's not comfy for the wearer at all.

We currently have 7 different carriers...I can't WAIT to use them again with this baby!

Moby for the start - especially good with breast feeding. Peanut Shell sling too in the start for a different kind of carry. Beco Butterfly for around 2-3 months - easier to use the Moby but not as secure for a newborn

Oh man. I forgot about the Bjorn boob. Moby all the way. I found the Bjorn uncomfortable on my back and chest (yes, Bjorn boob was an issue - part of my boob poked out of either side). Overall, I preferred my Maya wrap, though. We still use it at 2 years old.

We are getting a Moby for the beginning and an Ergo for later (and for DH... I don't see him using the Moby).

PPs are right, Bjorns KILL your back once baby is above like 12 lbs

I currently have the following carriers:

A moby wrap

A lucky sling

A WAHM ring sling in Solarveil

An organic Ergo w/ infant insert

A Connecta SSC in Solarweave

and a BabyHawk Oh'Snap for DH

The Bjorns are pretty crappy for their hips. They put a lot of stress on lower spine and hips. Check this article out for more info on why you should avoid these types of carriers.

I have a LOT of carriers. But I am really excited about wearing the LO often and wanted to have a lot of different options to try out.

DH is going to use the BabyHawk. I wanted him to have a more "manly" carrier to use with LO. Here is a link to the Babyhawk website, our Oh'Snap is the Skull and bones print.

Also consider that money wise the Bjorn is a very poor investment. You can only safely wear it for 20 minutes, and they grow out of it very quickly. Plus you can only wear it one way. With a carrier like the Ergo or BabyHawk they last through toddler hood and you can wear them in at least two different ways.

I looved the Moby when DD was really little, and the Ergo when she was older. We had a Bjorn and it sucked... totally hurt both of our backs and couldn't wear it long. It was nice in the sense that it was easy, but it wasn't worth it in the long run. After a few practice runs the Moby only take a minute to put on anyway... I threw out (gave away, whatever) our Bjorn early...

I'd go with the Moby because I've heard horrible things about the Bjorn putting the baby's weight where it shouldn't be and causing problems in their hips and such.

I have a Moby for more secure hands-free carrying, and a great pouch sling by Rockin' Mama for when she is a little older. DD still likes the sling because I can carry her on my back or DH can carry her.

IMO the Bjorn (or any front carrier like it) are really uncomfortable on your back and legs actually. DH didn't even like to use it. DH likes the sling though, and he is a big guy (6'4") and it fits him very well.
