IUI and cysts anyone?

Have any of you had multiple cysts and continue to proceed with your IUI?

If not, how big was your cyst(s) when they they decided to cancel it?

My RE said that this morning they found some cysts, but not to worry because he isn't concerned and it could just be residual follies from my last cycle.  As the day goes on, I am thinking about it non-stop. I never thought to ask how big they were, and now their offices are closed for the night.

This would be my last cycle before we talk about possibly moving on to IVF (if not successful), so I definitely don't want to cancel, but don't want to proceed if it will do some harm.

TIA!

Re: IUI and cysts anyone?

  • Some cysts are ok to proceed with, depending on the size and whether or not it is producing hormones.

Every time I've had cysts I've had to cancel and go on BCP. But if the RE says it is ok, it is probably ok.

  • I do not have an answer for you hun, but I just wanted to wish you luck!  I would assume that if your RE is okay with it, then you should be fine.  Express your concerns though, you're paying them to listen amongst other things!  Good luck!
  • I had 1 cyst at the beginning of this cycle that measured 35.  1 week late it was 12 and then 3 days later it was gone.  I was able to iui but it was a natural cycle with out any stimulators.  HTH

  • I had a 23.5 mm cyst last cycle and my lining was an 11 when I went in for my baseline u/s.  Needless to say, they cancelled that cycle.  This cycle, I had a 19 mm and a 14 mm cyst - one on each ovary - and my lining was good for this time of my cycle.  They didn't cancel my cycle this time and I've heard that it's probably because the cysts were smaller and my lining was in good shape indicating that the cysts probably aren't excreting hormones.  Good luck!

  • Thank you all for your help! I will definitely be calling tomorrow morning hoping to get some details on them.

This. My RE has also had me take a trigger shot to release them, it sucks, I've had almost every cycle since the end of August canceled because of cysts.

  • When i went for my day 2 u/s and they saw that I still had a 26 cm or mm not sure what they measure it in, but it did go from 24 to 26 but they did an E2 test and decided that it was ok to proceed with menopur injectables and the IUI...this is the first medicated IUI cycle for me.
