Hi ladies-- I have no clue what childcare costs these days and wanted to get an idea so I can start planning. I live on the east shore in the Colonial Park area. For those of you that use in-home providers can you tell me the cost, hours, and anything you like or dislike? Thanks!!
Re: in-home care costs
We take our son to an in-home sitter on the West Shore. She charges $25 a day. We take all food for him for the week.
I love the homey aspect of having him be where he is. He is very rarely sick because there are only 2 other kids with him. Plus, he gets a lot of attention.
I just started an in-home center and I also charge $25 a day or a little less if you come full time for a week, depending on age.
There are pros and cons to an in-home daycare.... you typically only have one care-giver, so if I get sick then that is it, where as a group setting there are always back-ups. I think if you have family / friends in the area who could help out occasionally if needed then an in home center is a great option as they are typically cheaper.
I provide breakfast, lunch, and 2 snacks. Parents provide diapers, wipes, formula.
Good luck and if you have any other questions let me know
I have been looking at in home day care and have found a huge range $2- $8 per hour per kid.
