? for baby wearers

I'm wanting to get a sling of some sort that I can carry Parker on my hip.  I'm not looking for anything too crazy, just something I can grab for quick errands.  It is such a pain to get a shopping cart just to put him in, or bring a stroller everywhere.  I saw this Peanut Shell at BRU and was wondering if anyone had it and loved it/hated it.  Thanks!!

  • I have PeanutShell and I really like it.  I used it when T was an itty bitty newborn, used it for a front carry when he was a bit bigger and now use it for a hip carry.

  • I've been using my Maya ring sling to take Andrew on walks with a hip carry. It works great!
  • I have the Peanut Shell sling and have liked it at different times.  I like it most when DD was between 5-8 months when I would use the front carry.  She loved it!  I haven't tried the hip carry with it lately...

  • pouch slings can be good, but it's important to get one fitted right to you.  Too small, and the baby is squished; too big, and the baby sits too low and puts pressure on your shoulder and neck.  Ring slings are good because they don't need to be sized, but have a slightly higher learning curve than a pouch, which is the most basic carrier of all.

Also, as he gets older, you might find he likes back carries and a mei tai is a great all purpose carrier.  The hip carry in it is a little funky, but it's great for toddlers and back carries.
