My nurse called me today to give me my tentative schedule for IVF # 2. My tentative ER is 2/25 and ET is 3/2! Seem so far away but I know it'll be here before I know it. It's been bittersweet to be on a break for the past few months after my m/c. I am starting to get a little excited for our next cycle but scared that we'll have a BFN or another m/c. RE is hoping not to overstim me again this time by doing a Lupron trigger.
They are also adding Ganirelix to my protocol this time. I've never used Ganirelix before and so I asked the nurse about it. She didn't really explain it well to me. I think I'll ask RE at my next visit. Anyone have experience with Ganirelix and what was your diagnosis? Is it IM or subq? TIA!
Re: Got tentative schedule for IVF # 2!
Hi,
I was on ganirelix. For me, it was actually easier, as there was no mixing involved as mine were prefilled. I would get a shot in the belly every morning after the bravelle. It stung just a tiny bit more and I would get red and itchy for a few minutes following, but it is pretty easy to use.
This! Ganirelix was the easiest injection I did. Best of luck!
I was on Ganirelix also, it was really eay. Like PP said, it was red and itchy at injection site for about 30 minutes after injection.
I do think it kept me from having an ovrstim problem again. My E2 only reached 1750 this cycle. 10,000 on my cancelled cycle.
I haven't started my Ganirelix yet, but I was told I could mix it with the Follistim and Menopur when the time comes. Then it is still just one shot!
I believe the Ganirelix stops you from ovulating. You use it after you stim for a while, but before you trigger.
I used Ganirelix for my last IVF and like pp's said, it is pretty easy
It comes pre-mixed, and all ready to go! It does burn going in and my injection site always itched like mad afterwards... It is a subq injection, so again, that's another plus
Good luck and you are right... March will be here before you know it!
Best Wishes for a great cycle!
