O_O *Really* big spider Clicky

So, we're moving, and I was cleaning out a drawer and found a really big spider. We're talking like.. it's body(legs not included) is about the size of a nickel.. maybe bigger... I am terrified of spiders(Girly.. Know...) And so I screamed a little and slammed the drawer shut.

Well, I got some guts and went in and put a glass over it to keep it there so it doesn't end up running around my house.. But now I don't know what to do about it. The drawer isn't really big enough to slide paper under the cup to let it outside.. that's what I usually do with spiders.

So the question is:

  • Okay, I'm terrified of spiders and if I had it contained, I'd wait for dh to come home, but knowing me, I'd have to "watch" it for the hour, just so it didn't get away.  I'd be way too afraid that it wouldn't die if I tried to kill it myself.  I feel for you...I really understand!!

  • You've already done way more than I would! I won't even suck up daddy long legs with a vacuum cleaner!
  • I called my neighbor once to kill a spider Embarrassed.

I'd probably just wait until DH got home!

  • I think I'd use the vacuum cleaner! My original thought was to leave it for DH, but what if the spider is like... super strong or something and gets out from under the cup?? Then you have no idea where it is!! That thought scares me WAY more.

I used a clear(so I can see it's still there) very heavy pint glass(it would have to be king-spider-kong to lift it) to trap it with. So I know it will still be there. But what if it escapes from the vaccum? Or when I go to change the bag, what if it has been eating the random food particles and such in the bag, and has thrived and become and even BIGGER creepy spider and  escapes the bagh, and eats me for revenge? O_O I think I'll leave it under the cup for DH...

LOL! I don't care if it sounds silly, I don't vacuum up spiders for this very reason!

I totally felt silly after writing that, but it's a rational(okay.. irrational) fear of mine!

  • Take the whole drawer outside. Then remove said cup and squish big scary spider with one of DH shoes. Then run screaming back into house and slam door and lock it (you know to make sure it can't sneak back in).

Oh you'd definitely change the bag right away. I imagine that the power of the vacuum would probably kill it anyway, but either way - bag out and into a grocery bag and possibly into a larger garbage bag and outside. Ick ick ick, I am shuddering thinking about it. Spiders scare the sh!t out of me!

How long till DH gets home??

I literally just changed the bag like an hour ago when I vaccumed... So I'd be wasting a pretty much empty bag on a spider. A BIG spider yes.. but vaccum bags are expensive! I'll just wait for DH.. he gets home around 4:30 or 5...

  • My brother--who hates spiders more than anyone I've ever met--shot a huge spider with a rubber band gun once. It smeared the spider 2 ft. across the wall!

    DISGUSTING!

  • I'd go in with a big wad of paper towels, take the cup off, slam the paper towels on it and rub that thing into oblivion. Be the master of the spider.
