I wouldn't purposefully do it but I wouldn't discount a name because it happens.
Lucas is my favourite boy name and it just so happens that Nate's last name begins with a L. Well, he will be LL. I didnt purposefully do it but I dont care that it will be.

It really does depend on the name. I am SS but it is "Sh... Sm..." so it doesn't sound like the same letter KWIM?
I might not do, say, Jason Jackson - with it starting with the same letter and rhyming. (no offense if that is someone's name!! IDK anyone named that.) However Jonathan Jackson is not too matchy at all.
However I know someone named Steven Stevens so you certainly can be TOO matchy.

I was LL before I changed my last name when I got married and I never thought twice about it. I don't remember anyone ever commenting on it either.
Interesting. Our last name starts with "L" and I love many "L" names, but I have nixed all of them.. Now I'm curious to know your name lol!!
My name is Laura and my maiden name is a 2 syllable Swedish name. They don't sound similar. My dad is LL too. His first name is Lance. You shouldn't cross them off! I honestly can say until I came on this board, I didn't know people even thought about alliteration in names. To me it's normal
My initials were BB before I got married. No one every commented on it. I like how my first and last started with the same letter. Now my DH thinks it's ok for girls but not boys. I don't mind either way.
I need an "other" option. DS is Colin and our last name starts with C. We seriously considered nixing the name because of the initials. Then I called my brother. His initials are AA. I asked him if it ever bothered him and he said he never gave it a second thought. We decided to go with it. I don't "like" the CC initials but I didn't hate it enough to not use the name I loved.
Now we're trying to pick a girl name. Again, I tend to lean towards the C names. This time I will not do it though. I won't have both my kids with the CC initials.
I voted for Option 2 b/c for me it's about the flow of the specific names together rather than the initials. We actually considered a combination that would have given DD 3 identical initials. Much to my surprise b/c I would have thought the alliteration would bother me, it's still one of my favorites, but it was a little too uncommon for my top 10 name loving DH. (Nothing wrong with that BTW, but top 10 names are completely NMS.)
Our last name begins with an L and is two syllables ends in a vowel sound and I nixed everything that began with an L....it sounded "too much" to me. When I said them out loud, it sounded funny. It may just be our last name, its a tough one.
I was an MM before I got married. I loved it (not sure why, though). Now, my last name is P. I would love to do a PP (yes, probably for a girl), but the P names are limited
Well, all 3 of my initials are the same letter. I used to hate it, but now I kind of like it, so I voted yes. My brother has the same first and last initial, but a different middle initial (his name is also Matthew). I doubt he's thought twice about it.
It wouldn't really matter to me... However if all three names started with the same letter - thats a different story!
After my grandparents got married, her initials were MMM. It never caused a problem.
Anyway, I'd say it depends on the letter. I've ruled out any names with a K sound, because our ln starts with K. I can't stand the sound of two K's that close together.
Re: POLL - First and last name with same intial
I voted "NO", but I probably needed an "other". I think it depends on the names.

Wow, I didn't realize how common the LL combo is.
