Two Under 2

When is the hardest age?

We're two weeks in to 2 under 2. Things have been going GREAT so far! But I'm thinking that once DD is awake more often...it's going to get trickier.

What ages did you find to be the most difficult?

Re: When is the hardest age?

  • It was different for each child and the challenges at different stages vary as well. It all depends on personality.

Right now it is so hard with #2 because she is into everything and C was never like this! Everything goes in J's mouth, it is terrible and scary. C is very helpful and sweet right now which is helping.

  • I'm guessing everyone will have a different opinion on this depending on the personality of the toddler and the newborn.  But for us, I have two very easy-going kids.  The newborn phase was not bad at all.  DD slept a lot and it was pretty easy.  However, I am finding that now is even easier since DD is on a predictable schedule, both kiddos sleep 11-12 hours each night, and they are starting to interract which totally melts my heart!  I'm guessing that once DD starts crawling (she is getting close, probably a few more weeks) then it will get slightly more difficult.  I had forgotten how babies put everything in their mouths and DS has toys everywhere!  We are going to have to really watch out for small pieces.
  • I am thinking once DD gets mobile and into everything it will get difficult.  So far it hasn't been bad at all

  • For me it was until the baby STTN.

Once I could get a good night's sleep all the other things going on didn't seem so overwhelming.

I don't do well without sleep.

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
  • For us it was started to get more difficult around 7-8 months.  #2 slept a ton up until about 4 months so that was really easy and then from 4-6 months he just sat there while awake and #1 found him to be adorable, then around 6 months #2 started to crawl and at first that was great fun for #1 because they could play and he thought it was hysterical that #2 was moving around.  After #2 got over the pure excitement of movement and decided that #1's toys looked good then life got complicated lol.
