GD appt - every week or 2 weeks?

My numbers have been good so my diabetic nurse has me coming back in 2 weeks. They did this last time too. She said they only do 2 weeks if the numbers are really good, but I'm wondering if that is actually fairly common... How often do you guys have to go?

Re: GD appt - every week or 2 weeks?

  • Don't get me wrong - I'm very happy to only have to go in every 2 weeks! The hospital they have me going to for the GD checkups are all the way across town!

  • I don't go at all. I fax my numbers every monday morning & get a phone call on Tuesday if something is wrong. If I had any problems during the week, I can call the doc office to s/w a nurse to figure things out sooner

  • i don't go at all either.  I had a one time appt w/a nutritionist that lasted all of 10 minutes (and wasn't even worth that much of my time).  I fax my numbers to my regular OB once a week and they go over them during my routine appt every 2 weeks.

  • They have me seeing the nutrionist again this fri which will be 2 weeks since I've been to the diabetic nurse's office. But my OB has me going twice a week every week to his office even though my numbers are good. He acted like he does that for all of his GD patients.

This.  I saw my GD counselor twice and my Endo twice.  That's it!

  • I met once with the nutritionist, once with the maternal fetal medicine doctor, and i go back to that doctor at 37 weeks.  i call the dietician every week with my numbers.  i also had one ultrasound last week and go back for one in 2 weeks.  i also go twice weekly for NSTs at my OB's office which is just a pain in the tush.  So I am definitely seeing doctors a lot, no question!
  • I was going once a week b/c my # were kind of crazy, but at my appt. Mon she said I could come back in 2 weeks b/c they were looking good, but to call if they started changing.

I'm having NST's 2x week at this point so I feel well monitored.

  • I only went once they said i didnt' have to come back I just check in with my OB unless I can't diet control. Is that bad do you think???
  • Wow I have to say I'm a bit jealous that you guys can fax in numbers :) I also have the 2x weekly NSTs and am seeing my OB once a week, so i the diabetic nurse had me come in every week, I'd have 4 appts a week from now on. I am just going to be thankful that every other week it's only 3 appts! I am also thankful that I took this whole semester off of work since I teach and would need a sub 2 days a week anyway. (I could not imagine trying to teach right now! I ran an all day meeting last week, sitting down, and took a few days to recover!)
  • Oh I have to do the NSTs 2x a week, but that's at the hospital - not through the doctors office. And I don't send my numbers to my OB - they go to the high risk doctor's office every week. Him I only met the first time & will never see again. My OB I see once a week now. I see lots of doctors, but none for my GD specifically. That I just do via fax & phone.
