I'm just curious at what point you couldn't possibly fit into your work clothes anymore. Also, if you waited a long time to start using a bella band was it because your clothes were a little loose to begin with?
I would say that I started using my band around 12-13 weeks just for comfort sake- I could've easily squeeze on the pants, but by the end of the day it just wasn't comfy enough. I only have a small bump at 22wks5days but definately enough for maternity pants.

I got one at 15 weeks. I could still close my pants, but it was not comfortable. Now I can't close them at all, and wear maternity pants some days and just use the band with regular jeans others.
I started with a bella band at about 18 weeks. I didn't grow much [any] before then.
I can still wear most of my work clothes without a problem. Some of my pants and skirts are getting annoying to wear with a bella band and maternity pants and skirts are entirely too big... so that's kind of annoying.
I started wearing it around 11 weeks just b/c it was more comfortable but really didn't NEED it until about 13 weeks. Some of my clothes were loose to begin with b/c before I got pregnant I was trying to lose weight. Depends on the pants I wear how badly I need the band now.
I don't plan to buy one at all. My butt has grown with my pregnancy (even though I've only gained 4 pounds!) so my old jeans/capris wouldn't fit even with a bella-band anyway.
I needed it at 11 weeks, but my clothes were pretty form-fitting to begin with. I ditched it at around 13-14 weeks because it needed constant readjustment everytime I stood up and some days, it felt like I was wearing Spanx one size too small. But I had severe bloating at weeks 11 - 15, where I felt like my midsection expanded and contracted from day to day, so that probably contributed to the band feeling unduly constrictive.

I needed it around 16 weeks. I couldnt get my work pants buttoned comfortably. I finally cant even use it anymore my belly is too big!
Your little hands wrapped around my finger and its so quiet in the world tonight
Your little eye lids flutter cause your dreamin so I tuck you in, turn on your favorite night light
To you everything's funny, you've got nothing to regret
I'd give all I have hunny, if you could stay like that
Oh darling dont you ever grow up, dont you ever grow up, just stay this little
Oh darling dont you ever grow up dont you ever grow up, it could stay this simple
I wont let nobody hurt you, wont let no one break your heart, no one will desert you
Just try to never grow up
A bella band was necessary for me on a regular basis around 14 weeks. I don't know what a "long time" is, but I did use the rubber band trick for weeks 12-14.

I guess I wear very form fitting pants because I needed to use it with most my work pants by 8-9 weeks. I am not heavy, nor have I gained any weight but I am in maternity pants full time and have been for the last 2 weeks.
Still waiting, and no my clothes are not loose. I wear skinny jeans. I have a $75 Gap gift card for Christmas and I'd like to buy some maternity jeans with it, but I never needed them last time (I carried so high) and I'm thinking it might be the same this time.
With my first, I think I used the Bella Band around 20 weeks.
I couldn't fit into my pants at 17 weeks. Couldn't find the bella band, so bought some stretchy pants a size up as an inbetween stage before maternity pants.
I don't have one and I'm not getting one. I have my regular pants on now, but they're being held together by a hair rubber band (the button) and a safety pin (for the fasteners). It's quite comfortable and no one can tell. Next step - maternity pants.
I still don't have a Bella Band and I'm 24 weeks now...my regular jeans still fit and I just do the rubber band trick ) I also have some maternity pants that my SIL gave me, but I haven't bought any myself...I wasn't planning on buying the bella band...
I used them at the beginning to hold my scrub pants up, because the next smaller size is too short in the legs. I have recently started not using it since my pants will now stay up without it. In the future I might use one again when not pregnant since hopefully I will get back to my pre-pregnancy size.
It depends on the pants for me. I use it with most of my jeans now because they're more tight fitting than my work pants. I haven't needed it yet for any of my work pants but probably will in the next couple weeks.
I'm going to need to start using mine soon as my work pants are getting uncomfortable to button at the end of the day and I don't want to start getting into a situation where I'm creating a muffin top, hehe.
Not sure how comfy it is going to be but I will tough it out for a few weeks at least as the gap maternity pants I got in my pre-preg size are way too big in the thighs and butt.
I needed one for some pants last week, and all pants this week. I don't really have a belly yet, but the bloat (and maybe the start of a belly) is here, for sure.
Work is very formal, so my clothes are all tailored (not tight, but not loose). My Mom is hemming all my mat. pants and plan to switch to those when I get them Saturday--the Bella band is just awkward, IMO. I'm always adjusting it after I get up and kind of feel that it looks lumpy.
I started wearing mine around 10 weeks once I was having to unzip the jeans a bit (which looked pretty trashy with the rubber band and if my shirt lifted I would have been busted). I wore my Bella exclusively until about 18 weeks or so then started sprinkling in maternity pants. After about 22 weeks I've been all maternity pants.
Re: When did you NEED a bella band?
I think I started really needing one around 13/14 weeks but it was more comfortable at around 12 weeks with one.
I started using the BeBand consistently at 14-15 weeks.
I'm in maternity pants now.
I starting using the Be Band from Target around 14 weeks. Some pants I didn't absolutely NEED it, but it made my clothes more comfortable.
I'm wearing mostly maternity stuff now though...I feel like I grew so much just in the past two weeks.

I can still wear most of my work clothes without a problem. Some of my pants and skirts are getting annoying to wear with a bella band and maternity pants and skirts are entirely too big... so that's kind of annoying.
