I was having a great chat with one of my IRL friends who has gone through 4 IVF cycles and 3 IUI cycles with all BFNs. She told me that on average it takes 3 IVF cycles to achieve a pregnancy. Has anyone else ever heard of this? What would it take for IUIs?
TIA.

Re: IVF statistic question
This.
5 REs + 3 surgical hysteroscopies for septum/lap + 3 failed IUIs
IVF w/ICSI/AH & acu = BFP!, unexplained spontaneous m/c @ 8w2d (our little girl),
FET w/acu = BFP!, B/G twins!, lost MP @19w, dx w/funneling cervix @20w,
twins nearly lost to IC @21w, saved by rescue cerclage, 17P & 16w of bedrest
Our twins born @36w4d via CS when A came foot first
Thankful for every day
Ohh... please share what they said! I am really interested!!!
Nationwide, across all age groups and diagnoses, the IVF success rate is about 30%. I do not know the exact mathmatical "average" for the number of tries it takes to get pg with IVF. However, if you look at the mathmatical formula, [(1*0.3) + ((1-0.3)*0.3) + (1-0.3-0.21)*0.3)] you can see that after three tries, only about 65.7% of women doing IVF will be pregnant.
ETA ---> and due to the nature of the formula, the absoulte total increase in % success rate diminishes with each successive attempt.
That makes a lot of sense. Thanks for this info!
Not true that I've ever heard..
I thought I'd heard something like 'If it doesn't work in the first three tries, your chances go down'. But maybe I'm thinking of clomid or something.
