I did and have no complaints. My main reason for delivering there was because I work there, some people would say that's a reason to decide against a place, but for me I liked the feeling of comfort that came along with knowing the hospital really well. I go to Obstetrics and Gynecology Associates, and they are right across the parking lot in the Healthplex. So for me it was really about convience as well because I worked full time when I was pregnant, so it was really easy to leave work and go to my appointments.
If that's the practice you're considering (I know they are the main ones that deliver at Mercy Fairfield, I'm not sure if there is another group that does) I don't really have many complaints about them either. Yes they're a big practice and you don't know who will deliver, but I still felt like I got quality care. If you want to stick to a few Dr's while you're pregnant I can recommend a few if you'd like.
As far as the hospital goes they just finished remodeling the floor. You used to labor/deliver/recover in one room. Now you labor and deliver in one room (the older ones) and recover in the recently remodeled rooms. The labor rooms are pretty big, the recovery rooms are smaller ( I stayed in one when I had my ectopic) but they're decorated nicely. They have a better pull out bed than the labor room.
Thanks for the info! Yes, that's the practice I'm considering. I called the OB who delivered Nora (who is no longer delivering babies) and she recommended Dr. Bonar.
Weren't you also considering VBAC? I was kind of put off at my first visit to my current office. The doc I saw gave me the lengthy spiel about how they don't like to do VBAC but they would.... I'm trying to find someplace that might be encouraging of that. Do you know any of the Dr.'s there that support it?
Dr. Bonar delivered Noah and I had a very good experience with her. I thought she was encouraging and gave me plenty of time to try and push Noah out (3 hours!) and I didn't feel like she rushed me into a c-section.
Like I said I work at Mercy so I have experience with almost all the Dr's on both a professional and personal level. From my experiences in both situations I would recommend Dr. Bonar, Narendran, and Dr Swayze. They would be my first 3 choices. Dr. Narendran was my Dr. throughout my ectopic and I will be going back to her once I get pregnant since she's most aware of my history. If I end up having scheduled c-section I will be trying to choose one of those 3.
My least favorite are Dr. Silver, Johnson, and Brennar....all for various reasons. Dr. Packard and Lee are on my okay list. I don't have any experience at all with Dr. Wolf, Fennimore or Bartlett - But I've heard that Bartlett is really really nice and down to earth.
I don't know a whole lot about their rules on VBACs but I do know that they do them. My neighbor had one 2 years ago and Dr. Bonar delivered for her. And I do kinda remember Dr. Bonar tell me right after I had Noah that I'd be able to try for one, but I was pretty out of it!
So I don't know if all of them are pro-VBAC, and since you get whoever is on call I'm not sure how it would work. Like if Dr. Bonar is who you see the whole time, but someone else delivers who isn't for it as much that would suck!
My SIL delivered there, and had a great experience.
I also go to Obstetrics and Gynecology Assoc. I mainly see Dr. Narendran, but I do try to see a few different ones just because I want to be familiar with whoever happens to be on call when I deliver! I've seen Dr. Swayze and Dr. Brenner, and I will see Dr. Bonar next time I go in. I've had nothing but great experiences there so far, and with the doctors. I normally go to the Liberty Falls office because it's close to home.

Several friends of mine go there and have been pretty happy with the practice, they see Dr. Narendran and Dr. Bonar. Someone I know did ask about a VBAC but decided against it herself though.
Another option (and I know he is pro-VBAC) is Dr. Daniel Bowen. I think he delivers at Mercy Fairfield and/or Bethesda North. Here is his website: https://www.danielbowenmd.com/. I have heard nothing but positives about him, and may look into going to him for my next pregnancy because I would rather deliver somewhere closer to home.
