They are still wanting to eat at about every 2 hours... really 2 1/2 hours is the longest they go. They weigh about 10 pounds each and are taking 4 oz in each bottle. My doctor told me to put a couple of teaspoons of rice cereal in bottles when i give them bottles and then after i breast feed offer them another oz with a little rice cereal in it. Will this effect my supply? I could pump after I breastfeed, but it's so hard to give them the bottle, burb both of them, and pump all within a reasonable time frame. WWYD?
Re: 2 1/2 months... eating every 2 hours. What to do?
My little guy eats every 2 hours too. The only time he goes longer than this is when he naps and at night (he does 3 hours of sleep at a time). He weighs 14lbs. We just had his 2 month appt today and the pedi said that he should be going longer between feedings (like 3 hours) but he didn't suggest doing anything to push it out.
Sorry, I'm no help but wanted to tell you that you're not alone. If I think he is going to have a long nap, I pump when he starts to sleep so that it doesn't hurt my supply (plus, I need to build up my freezer stash before I go back to work).
Yep, the every 2 hours went on past 6 months for us as well.
P.S. Seriously no offense, but how old is your doc? I didn't know doctors were still saying the old cereal in the bottle myth these days. Way too young for that, plus no research has shown that it helps, so it can really only hurt to some extent.
My son is also eating every 2 hours.
I agree w/this post. Putting rice cereal in a bottle is a HUGE choking hazard and has not been recommended in 20+ years. I would find a new doctor!
