Never had JCP portraits done, but we just went to Sears last week and had a great experience. The woman taking photos was great with LO and got lots of good smiles out of her!
We got the below pic done at JCP's...they were pretty good!
I love your picture and we're getting DS done on Friday at Pennys. Was the outfit your LO in provided by you, or something they had to choose from for the pictures?

I have done both and I much prefer JC Penney. The prices are usually lower, especially with a coupon. At Sears they only take pictures until you have 5 that you consider acceptable and then they have you choose from those. At JCP they take a bunch and you have many more to choose from. I usually join their portrait club - for 30$ you get free sitting fees for 2 years no matter how many times you go in.
It has been awhile since I have been to Sears tho so they may have changed how they do things but that has been my experience!
We had Ty's pictures done at Sears. They turned out great and the photographer was excellent with him. The prices vary, but with coupons you can get away with very cheap pictures. They also put them online so you can picture share and just order what you want. They have sales on picture sheets all the time, and with some packages you get the picture disk as well. She took 26 pictures and we had all 26 to choose from on what we wanted.
Re: JcPenny vs. Sears portraits
I have not had them done at JCPenney but a friend just recommended JCPenney to me.
I do not recommend Sears at all. My friend worked there in high school and didn't have any photography experience at all.
We had William's made at JCP and the photog was wonderful with him!
