Two Under 2

do you use a video monitor?

Just curious... I never really considered it. We did buy the motion sensor one but I hated it as it gave false alarms sometimes if baby moved off the sensor pad so I don't think we'll use it this time around but not 100% sure. I did like feeling more secure with it but the false alarms were killer. Just curious what others do.

Re: do you use a video monitor?

  • We use a video monitor and I love it!  I watch her all the time.  We are planning on getting another one for the second one.  Probably a hand held this time so if the baby is napping I can still run around with DD.
  • Loading the player...
  • i was so against them before ds, then he came along and I caved, I love it. I only look at it if I hear him fuss or cry, but its great so you can see if he gets hurt, loses his paci etc. It has stopped me from going into his room more than I need. I got another for DD. I use the summer handheld ones

  • We barely even used our regular monitor, i got so used to his sounds I was never really that worried about it
  • We used the video one with DS#1

  • We used a video monitor with DS#1, and I loved being able to see him.  It was reassuring.

  • Yes, I have had it on DD since birth and I love it.  Now that she is bigger I'm not sure if DS will get it or if we will get it on DD and get and audio for DS.
  • I didn't use it at first, but I did after she was about 4 months old. Now I wish I'd used it sooner. It really keeps me from going into her room when all she needs is a few minutes to get herself back to sleep.

And now that she's 18 months, I can make sure she's not trying to climb out her crib.

I'm thinking out of ease that I'll just buy a new one and then buy an extra camera so we just have to carry around one monitor (using two different channels) rather than carry around the monitor I have now plus the new one.

It's more expensive, but then I won't have to hear my husband whine about two monitors. Did anyone do this?

  • absolutely!  I LOOOOOOVE it.  When ds starts fussing in the middle of the night I can look at it and see if he's standing (which means I need to go in) or still laying down (which means he's going back to sleep).  It is such a life saver for us!
