Yes Ma'am! I eat a banana every night before bed! I know it sounds silly, but its due to a potassium deficiency. I haven't had one in over 2 weeks (*knocks on wood*).

also, when you do get one it helps it go away really fast if you get out of bed and walk it off. i get them in my feet, but i'm pretty sure it helps for calf cramps too. hmmm... i think i need to add bananas to my diet.

I got them pretty bad before opregnancy and this is good advice for taking care of them once they hit. Another option that works well is to have your DH stretch it out for you. In fact mine is so well trained if he hears me say "ow ow ow" in the middle of the night he can grab my leg, stretch the calf, and be back to sleep without ever knowing what happened.

Drink more water throughout the day, eat a banana before bed and whatever you do..dont point your toes when trying to get rid of them. This makes it so much worse. flex your toes up and grab them if you can
Re: Leg Cramps When Sleeping?
PAINFUL Charley Horses!!!! HORRIBLE!!!!
I increased my potassium (via bananas) and increased water/electrolytes. And, have been stretching 2 times/day.
It has helped, but I still get them.

Take more calcium. Cal/Mag supplements are great for getting rid of those... check with your doctor, first, though!
