102 fever, but no other symptoms

Hey gals, I already have a call into our dr, but wanted to see if any of you have experienced this before. My DS has had a 102 fever for the past 36 hours. I've been giving him Motrin & its been bringing it down to 101. He doesn't have any other symptoms ... no runny nose, no cough, etc. He is usually a pretty active guy, but right now he just wants to cuddle all day. I love the cuddle time but wish he felt better. Anyone else experience a fever with no other symptoms? TIA

    The one time my son had a high fever with no symptoms, it ended up being an ear infection.

    Ear infection?  A lot of times there are no other outward symptoms.

    For us, high fever and no other symptoms was roseola - once the fever went down, she got a rash all over her body for a day, then she was fine.

    Sounds like he's fighting off a virus. Since it's been 36 hours bring him in to get checked just to be sure. If they can't find anything it's probably viral.

     DD had 103 about a month ago. We kept it down with luke warm baths, tylenol & motrin. It spiked at 105 one night but we got it down to 101.6 with motrin & luke warm bath. Once it broke the next morning she was fine. never had any other symptoms at all.

    For us, the only time that has happened it turned out to be a UTI.

    Ds had a fever like that around his bday. He had no symptoms but was tired. It went away after 2 days and he was fine. Probably some kind of virus.

    This happened to us recently (as in Friday).  It wound up being a viral infection, the pedi said, b/c all his blood and urine labs came back fine.  She said he'd have a fever for a few days and then would get a rash.  The fever is pretty much gone now and he has little red bumps on his tummy/chest.  So, I'm assuming this is what it was.  He had no other symptoms other than fever and super cuddly.  

    Just keep a check on it and if the fever lasts more than 72ish hrs (our was a little more than 72 hrs) or if it gets above 103.5-104, definitely go to the pedi.

    Could be an ear infection, a UTI or a virus (DD has had all 3 and the one time she had no symptoms and it was a virus it turned out she had red spots on her throat - NOT strep - and was a virus that was causing the fever but no other symptoms).

    I'd take a visit to the pedi...

    Connor just had this, no ear infection.  He was a bit lethargic for a few days, then he got better.  Another child in his preschool class had the exact same symtoms.  My guess is if it's not an ear infection, it's just a virus.
