  • is it colorful?  how did the colors turn out, if it is?

    what do you have?

where did you come up with the design?

  • I have a geisha girl...very colorful and getting more color when I have the extra $$. I've gone for about 3 sessions of 4 hours and it's still not done. The colors are still vibrant. I told my tattoo guy I wanted a geisha girl and came up with it. We have a decent relationship with our guy seeing as how dh has 2 arm and 1 leg sleeve. I suggest you find out a reputable shop and go in and talk with them... If they are worth anything they will be willing to help you out and work with you on a design. GL!
  • is it colorful?  how did the colors turn out, if it is? Yes, very colorful. The colors are great. I specifically chose an artist based on his colorwork, so I was really happy with the result! The tattoo is 9 years old and the colors are holding up really well.

what do you have? My backpiece is a sacred heart surrounded by stained glass windows, covered in vines and leaves.

where did you come up with the design? I knew I wanted an original sacred heart-I worked with the artist to come up with rest.

My advice would be to find an artist whose style you love...then contact them and let them know your general ideas and work with them! Make sure you go for an artist you really researched, especially with a big piece. Don't look for low prices, and don't be dissuaded if there is a long wait for an appointment...you will have this tattoo forever! Make sure you feel comfortable with the artist.

Here is the myspace profile of the artist who did my backpiece, lots of pics: Jon Clue

I have a 1/2 sleeve, one on my wrist, and 3 on my back.

1/2 sleeve: Cherries with spider webs, a sacred heart, an anchor, and a skeleton key going through a lime wedge. They all represent something in my life and i love them. I had them all done in color and the saturation of the color is still magnificent. The keep is wearing sunblock on them every day.

I would search for a tattoo artist that you like. Look at their books. You are looking for color saturation, line quality, proportion, and details. Make sure they do good work, don't just take someone's word for it an go to the most popular place! Make sure to speak with the artist and see if you feel comfortable with them. Also, If you just give them a few must have elements you want in your design they will come up with something amazing and custom. When you give the tattooer creative freedom with your elements they work so much better, and the piece will be amazing. GL!
