How to deal with morning sickness?

My morning sickness is awful!  I don't have it everyday but the days I do get it are horrible.  Any tips on how to minimize it?  I have tried nibbling on saltines, sucking hard candy, and moving slowly.  Any help would be great!

Re: How to deal with morning sickness?

  • Hi There,

Luckily I never had morning sickness, but I do often get motion sickness. I've always felt better after drinking some ginger ale and taking deep slow breathes. I've also heard you can try raw ginger (you can buy it at Whole Foods) or ginger candy and that seems to help some people.

GL! I hope you feel better soon!

  • I didn't have it with this baby, but with my first, I was green 24/7.  My husband read on some website that the smell of lemons helps a lot.  He ran out to buy me a lemon candle to keep on my desk at work, but wouldn't you know it, it went away by that point and I never got to test it out.  Worth a try though.
  • With this pregnancy the morning sickness has been much worse than with my first. Things that help include ginger ale, ginger lemon cookies (from costco), pretzels. And overall, keeping my stomach busy by having a snack around helps. Hope you feel better soon!

  • Preggie pops and preggie drops helped me! I was sick every day all day for my 1st trimester.  You can get them at the maternity stores.  I kept them in my purse.

Also, go to Whole Foods or similar and get candied ginger or ginger candy.  They only have it at those stores.  I tried ginger snaps and ginger ale, but when you look at the ingredients, they don't have ginger!!!!! It's a natural remedy for nausea.

Nothing will make it go away but these things will hopefully make it better.  Then one day like magic you will just feel better!!

  • Thanks so all the ideas.  I'll have to go out this afternoon to get all everything you guys listed.  Good thing there's a Whole Foods and a Motherhood Maternity right next door!

  • I had sucky morning sickness too and I tried all sorts of remedies. The trick for me was cinnamon toast with light butter. It worked like a dream!
