Postpartum Depression

New (but not so new) comer...

My DD is 18 months old already and I think I still have a touch of PPD. It was worse in the first few months but then I started feeling better. Now that I am going back to work, it's as though the overwhelming feelings and panic are returning. Is anyone else this far in and still feeling this way? Thanks.

  • I've felt terrible lately, but my Dr told me I don't have PPD anymore. I went from bad to ok to worse.

  • The onset of PPD can be anywhere from a few hours / days after birth to 24 months.  So it is entirely possible that it felt like it got better and then came back.

Sorry that you are having to deal with this.

  • Yes, it does happen.

I hope you feel better soon.

  • I still get those feelings every now and then.  Usually I can tie it back to some other stress trigger or a lack of sleep.  I go see my therapist if I notice the feelings persisting and that seems to really help clear my head.

  • I am only 6 months PP, but I would admit that my feelings of anxiety and depression surged dramatically when I returned to work.  So that may definitely be a factor in how you are feeling.  Please see your doctor, so that you can begin feeling better!
