SHOCKED!! at nursing bra size!!!

I went into Motherhood Maternity today to check out nursing bras. The sales lady said to go up a size or two, and to make sure there is room for 2 fingers to fit in between your skin and the cup to account for growth. I was notmally a C or sometimes D, so I tried an E. Nope, I walked out with an F! Wowza! I just bought one until my milk actually comes in and I am feeding. Then i figured I could try a different bra from target or something.

Totally! I was a B cup pre pregnancy and I went and got measured by an LC a week after DD was born and I am E cup now! Yikes. It took a little while to get used to it. Your band size will probably go down after you have the LO too. I was up to a 38 D while pregnant and am now at a 34 E.

even after your milk comes in, you'll want to wait (or just buy one again). my boobs were/are constantly changing sizes. my boobs peaked at 6 weeks postpartum. i'm still bfing, but now i'm down to my pregnant size.

Sorry, but that saleslady should be fired, that is SO the wrong information...Urgh. There's no way to tell how big you are going to get, and a well fitting bra is crucial while nursing.

Anyway, the best advice is to wait until one week after birth, and then get fitted. Go to Nordys and they will fit you for free, I ended up just buying my bras there and I'm so glad I did. I rec'd the Anita brand, as do a lot of the women on the BFing board.

For reference: I was a 34D pre-pregnancy, a 34F while pregnant, and a 34H while nursing. Three months after weaning I am a 34DD.

Yeah, not quite. I would love to be a B cup and wear cute tops all the time and not have to wear ugly Grandma bras!! And, those hideous bras are always the most expensive! WTF is up with that? This ugly bra should cost $12, not $70.

Amen to what Jen said! I'd be up for a B, maybe C, and being able to wear all the cute tops without offending my Grandma accross the table!

Not sure of the size range at Motherhood Maternity, but I know they offer more sizes on their website than in the store. Or Lane Bryant? I'm sure their cup sizes go to the larger sizes. You might have to check about the band size though. 38 might be on the smaller end of the spectrum for there. I just looked real fast. They start at 36 and go up to a H.
