Just found out a friend of mine is pregnant. She's pretty new to the area and doesn't have many friends. I wanted to do something extra special for her because she doesn't have that big support system.
I am going to make her a gift basket filled with lots of PG related items. I'm thinking PG books, magazines, cocoa butter lotion, etc.
For those of you who are TTC#2, what item(s) were a necessity to you during your 1st pregnancy?
Is there something you wish you had during your 1st pregnancy that you plan to have for your 2nd?
Even if you're TTC#1, your input is also appreciated.
Thanks ladies! (Sorry if there are mispellings...I'm on my BB)
ooo those are good ideas so far. i really liked lotion...like any lotions not just cocoa butter. i read from my pregnancy book almost every day. someone got me a subscription to a parenting magazine which was nice (i actually still get them). maybe some candies? or maybe that's just me! one of the nicest things i got was my "1st baby item". my friend got me a beautiful knit bib (it was so nice i never used it) but i would hold and look at the bib with amazement that i would soon have something that could wear it!
ETA: oh i second the belly band. i would have never bought one for myself but i loved it...
A bella band (or Target's Be Band), lemonheads (sour food can help with m/s!), a book about pregnancy. I preferred Your Pregnancy Week By Week. What to Expect WYE=What to worry about=What to freak the eff out about every second of the day.
If she likes Jenny McCarthy, Bellylaughs might be good, or Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy.
You are such a nice friend! It is hard to be without a support system!
ETA: I forgot to add the best one...belly oil! I had Belli L.A.B. oil I got on clearance, it is spendy, but Burts Bees mama oil is nice too.
So, I haven't been pregnant but I have done something similar for a friend.
I also included some funny literature (Baby Laughs - Jenny McCarthy) because I figured she would get 1,000+ copies of the serious stuff (WTEWYE).
We're really close, so I also got her some gag gifts (that she actually used!) including: "doggie bags" for morning sickness, saltines, and "baby growing lotion" (just cocoa butter with a funny name).
I just wanted to suggest that you wait until she's in 2nd tri before giving her this type of a gift. I'm hoping that since she's telling people she's already at that point, but if not I'd just get flowers or a card and wait a few weeks before giving her this. It's a very thoughtful idea.

Thanks for the input ladies. Sorry I can't respond to each of you individually. For some reason I can't "quote" on my phone.
Riley- I wouldn't think of doing this if she wasn't at least 10-12wks along! I'm smarter than that love!
Thanks again!
Re: Brainstorming Help - TTC#2 come in!
I usually put these things in gift baskets for my pg friends:
Preggie Pops, 6 pack of sprite, What to Expect When Your Expecting, Pregnancy Journal, belly band.
