Diaper ? from a 3rd tri bumpie

DH and I went out pricing diapers this weekend, and diaper selection wasn't as cut-and-dry as we thought it would be.  We were told that Pampers Swaddlers were the best for newborns, and we assumed the Swaddlers were just Pampers' name for itty bitty baby diapers.  It looks like there's also a Pampers Baby Dry line that has sizes for newborns too.  What's the difference?

  • Swaddlers are the "supreme" line, Baby Dry is the base line. They both work fine for us.

  • Swaddlers has a dry weave panel that collects and traps moisture away from the baby (I sound like a commercial), the also are a bit softer IMO.
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

  • I'm not sure of the difference, but we used (and still use) the Pampers swaddlers and LOVE them.  DD has not had one leak or blowout yet (knock on wood.)  They do have a newborn size as well as larger sizes.  We use the size 1's, which fit 8-14 lb babies.

The hospital which we delivered uses these same diapers as well so we got a few packs to take home for free also!

  • Not a huge difference, but the swaddlers are a bit softer, and actually do run a bit bigger in sizing. I noticed this when DD was growing out of size 1s (which was last week)... the Baby Dry 1s barely fit at all, while the Swaddlers 1s still *sort of* fit. Otherwise, I've had no issues with either brand for leaks or anything.

This. We also started using the baby dry at night and they hold a lot more wetness I think without "swelling" up so much. However We just had 2 major leaks after major morning blowouts (DS doesn't poop at night lol I think he stores it all up for the morning). They also seem slightly larger. I like them both.

  • Just thought I'd chime in....The Pampers Swaddlers SENSITIVE have a yellow line that turns blue when they pee. We found this soo helpful when LO was a newborn. They don't take in that much, so they don't pee out that much, and it's really hard to tell when they have a wet diaper.

FWIW, We have used the Pampers Swaddlers and Huggies and thought the Pampers fit much better. We are still in size 1's also of the Swaddlers.

  • I realize this is not what you asked, but just thought I'd share.  Huggies Naturals seem to run a little big.  The hospital used Swaddlers and we had bought Huggies Naturals.  When we ran out of the Swaddlers we started using the Huggies we bought and LO kept leaking out of Huggies because they seem to run big. We switch back to the swaddlers and have been using them ever since.
