Hello ladies. I posted on this board quite a bit when I was pregnant. I had GD and was diet controlled. I was very strict with the diet and avoided insulin narrowly several when my numbers began to rise by becoming more and more restrictive (and walking after every meal).
We had our baby on Dec 1 and he was completely healthy at 7 pounds 9 oz. He had no blood sugar issues. I just wanted to let you know that all the deprivation and stress is worth it.
One great side effect of the diabetes diet for me? I have lost 30 lbs in the 7 weeks since he was born with not a lot of effort. I was overweight pre-pregnancy but not to an extreme degree. I gained 14 lbs during pregnancy. When I weighed myself about a week after birth, I was down about 22 lbs. The other 8 I have lost by watching what I eat (not hard when your baby won't let you put him down and cries whenever you eat!) and walking again.
So- there is light at the end of the tunnel. Best of luck to all of you- I know how hard it is and that it adds an element of stress to the last few months of your pregnancy. Hoping you all have happy healthy babies!
Re: GD success story

I have GD- diet restriction only.... I'm hoping all this hard work helps my baby not have any problems!!
