Room Thermometer?

Does anyone have one?  I don't think our thermostat is very accurate and we need to calibrate it but I still would like a room thermometer as Lilly's Nursery (which she isn't sleeping in yet) and her playroom run much cooler than the rest of the house...

I found this GroBag Thermometer

https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3314223

but it has mixed reviews....does anyone have experience with this one...or one they can recommend...

Re: Room Thermometer?

  • We bought a super cheapy one that we kept in the nursery just so we could get a better sense of what the temp was in there vs. what the thermostat read. I thought it was very useful. It's not the one you linked to, but we don't have it anymore so can't recommend anything specific. It was not a baby-specific item - DH probably got it at a hardware store.

  • Oh, Kittylove has one of these! Ask her what she thinks of it (try her on FB/email as she doesn't come by here often anymore).

We have a regular, we don't even know which kind, thermometer in G's room, because we got it off Freecycle. We like it because it shows us temperature as well as humidity, which is nice when we need to know if it's a "run the humidifier" night or not.

That's a cool feature to have!

  • You are amazing me with the stuff you are finding!

R's room is significantly cooler than the rest of the house, but it doesn't seem to bother her.  She wears a fleece footed sleeper and fleece sleep sak at night and is just fine.  We keep the upstairs thermostat at 71.

  • We have the AngelCare temp version and I have to say that I'm obsessive about watching the temp.  J has the hotest/coldest room in the house by far and we have had to close certain rooms and vents to get his room comfortable.  We like to have the windows open when the temp is pretty good and I like having the temp alarms on so I don't have to worry about it getting suddlenly way too cold in Js room in the middle of the night.

Is the angel care the movement monitor thing or is it room thermometer only?

Ditto this completely! We have the angel care monitor, and the recievers show the temp in her room. Super helpful not only at home but when we go to the IL's house (it gets really cold in the winter and warm in the summer in 'her' room).
