Crafty moms - making a changing pad

Anyone make a changing pad (for out and about, not at home)?  I'm wondering if I need to make it water-resistant or if I should just have it be cloth and throw it in the wash pretty regularly?

  • We've tried both.  I prefer a cloth one. It washes better....who knows what grubbiness is on the bottom from the change table itself.

Not to be creepy, but I love when you post.  You seriously have the most gorgeous baby boy I've ever seen!

  • yes, I  made one out of water-resistant pleather... works well, a bit cushiony.

  • I made one out of old cloth diapers and revieving blankets that I stitched together for the inside and covered it with fabric that matched my diaper bag. Then I "quilted" it, so that when its washed, the inside material stays put. I like it even more than the water resistant ones!
