I think my baby is sick...

We are waiting for a call back from the pedi, but wanted to run this by ya'll too....

All day today LO has seemed particularly sleepy and when awake, is listless and maybe a bit lethargic. He has not nursed nearly as much as he usually does. And his poop has a new, smelly odor and looks different. Its' still mustard yellow, but it seems to have mucous in it and thick white stringy type stuff (instead of the usual seedy consistency). I took his temp and it's fine and he does not seem warm or anything. What could be going on? First time mom and not used to this kind of thing....please give me your thoughts...thanks!

    I think I read that mucous in the poo means constipation.  It's the body's was of lubing the poo up to get it to slide out.  DDs poo started to change appearance and odor when she started to get constipated.

    I'm sure your LO is ok if there's no temp.  You're pedi will be able to rest your mind tho!

    He seems kinda more like he has diarrhea though because he has pooped rather frequently today and its very runny. I dont know??

    Call your Pedi - that is what they are there for.  Trust your instincts and put your mind at ease.  I am sure that all is fine but I would call if I were you...use the resource if you have it.

    Huh...Not sure then.  We have the constipation problem and haven't dealt w/ diarrhea yet.  Keep us updated!

    It sounds like it could be a virus. My DS had a few times where he just had diarrhea and no temp, took him in to the doctor just to be sure and they said it was just a virus and the only thing I could do was just continue to BF. But DS also had similar issues when we found out he had a dairy allergy. GL!
