i'm looking into registering for a sling but i dont know what kind people prefer (i dont want to feel like shes going to slide out)- im hoping to use it around the house a lot in the beginning but i also dont want to spend a fortune.
any recommendations?
Re: please recommend your sling :)
I'm a total ring sling junky, but I've never liked them for around the house - at least not for getting anything done. I always feel like I need to have one hand available at all times just in case, and that's just not conducive to dealing with housework.
When he was tiny, I had a Moby knockoff that I loved. Now that he's bigger, I have a Beco and we do back carries.
But for general use, the ring sling is #1 in my book! I have a Maya, a WAHM model from Etsy, and a wrap that I had converted to a RS. I love them all! They're really, really versatile, and fantastic for slipping on and off when you're out running errands.
ETA that I also have a pouch carrier - I had that prior to my RS. As pp mentioned, they're hard to fit. Hotslings does make an adjustable model now, but they're really not meant for larger/older babies. A ring sling is essentially the same thing as a pouch, and most are just as well suited for toddlers as they are for infants.

Babywearing is a very personal thing. Everyone seems to have their favorite. For newborns, I really like the moby wrap. A good Ring Sling (like Storchenwiege) is also a great tool. That is where I would start, with those two.
