how much is too much?

So I know increased DC at the end is normal (im 38 weeks 2 days BTW) but when should I be wondering if it's actually amniotic fluid? the last 2 days Ive been constantly wet ( sorry y'all) and have actually gone to the bathroom just to wipe. Sex and exercise seem to make it worse, (think 20-30 minutes of fluid leaking straight) With DS I was dilated to 10 before they broke my water, so i guess i dont wanna go in and look stupid but at the same time don't wanna think it's nothing and it turn out to be something ya know?

Re: how much is too much?

  • Rule of thumb: It's always better to be safe than sorry.

Call first and explain what's going on to see if they want you to come in or not. I think it's a lot easier and less embarrassing than just running to L&D every time you're concerned about something.

  • Being that far along I would definitely contact your OB immediately and see what they say. If you dont have contact with your OB (i hv my OB's cell and home #) then I would certainly go to the hospital. You do not want to be leaking fluid or have your water broke and not have medical attention. I took a class that said not all woman experience that "splash" when the water breaks...sometimes it breaks at the top and causes a "slower" leak. I do hope everything is ok and if your water has broke and your little one is about to be welcomed to the world congrats! KIT
  • Could be fluid - if there is a small leak, or if the head of the baby is blocking it the fluid would leak out when the baby moves their head around...GL
