2nd Trimester

I don't think we're doing a "nursery".

More of a bedroom.

It's going to be gray with a lot of pictures on the wall (Dh has so many picture by Ansel Adams that we want to hang)

DS is going going ot have those square shelves that they sell at Target.  We had them in out living room but no anymore.  I think they would look cute.

Anyone else doing the same thing?

Re: I don't think we're doing a "nursery".

  • That is more what we are doing.

We have a bedroom with a queen size bedroom set in it and it is black so I am just pulling the bed out and getting a black crib to set up.  We are going to paint the room a neutral color and I will accessorize with things that match the bedding but I am not going to paint a "nursery".
I think I would rather wait til they are like 5 or 6 and then give them a big kids room as a present when they start school or something.

  • We are doing something similar... Grey, white and yellow accents. We are, however, planning on a very mod giraffe/tree decal
  • I think I would describe our ideas for our "nursery" as more of being a bedroom. My DF and I don't have a lot of money to begin with so we really want to decorate the room in a way where our LO can really grow into it. So yea definitely more of a bedroom! Big Smile

  • Nope, we're doing a nursery.  I'm horrible at decorating, yet seem to do well with kids stuff.  So, in order for it not to be a plain room,  I'm going with nursery!
  • Us.  The room is a spare bedroom that used to be my studio.  It has a chamois ragged finish in blue that I did several years ago.  I'll be doing some paintings to hang, but I want to minimize the chance of having to redecorate in a few years.  We'll use accessories (i.e. lamps, decor) to make it more nursery-like while LO is young.
  • We're in a weird position.  We live in a home that the family (including DH) owns.  We haven't decided whether or not we're going to buy and renovate it yet or build a whole new home.  Neither option will have us in a finished house for several years. The plan was not to have kids until we were closer, but what are you going to do right?

The house we live in now is full of family stuff, I haven't unpacked 1/2 my stuff or any of our wedding stuff and redecorating is not an option unless we buy it.  I'm not much of a decorator anyway.

In short, We're in limbo and I'm not doing anything until we have our own home so it'll be mismatched stuff and no decorating until then.

  • We have a spare bedroom. I'm not into decorating or  creating a nursery at all. So, unless I hire someone to come and decorate it, it will remain a spare bedroom.
  • Yeah, DD's room is more like a bedroom, except now that it is full of a crib, changing table, and a whole lot of toys, it looks like a nursery. That's what a couple hello kitty dolls on the dresser will do to a room.

  • im kind of mixing the two. we just moved in and  walls are a darker muted yellow, i got baby polka dot bedding, and some mod pictures, - etsy has lots of great choices- , the crib is expresso like the rest of our furniture in the home. I am adding a double bed for me in there. I am going to sleep in there until the first few months are over. I figure DH will appreciate a good nights sleep for work in the morning.

I want it to be a modern type childs room, not a baby nursery with loads of cartoons etc.

  • We're kind of going in between as well.  We're not painting, and the walls are just cream.  We'll add neutral curtains/blinds and then add some bright but temporary decorations like a wall decal, painting/s, floor rug, mobiles, lots of toys etc.  We might move when baby is 6 months old and resale value will be best if we don't go overboard with nursery stuff now.
