Babies on the Brain

For any Thoroughbred racing fans...

Zenyatta is going to run again in 2010.  They are hoping to meet up with Rachel Alexandra.  I am so excited it just gave me the energy I was lacking to clean my house.  Yay!!!!

Re: For any Thoroughbred racing fans...

  • I'd say that won't happen before the Breeders Cup, right?

  • Now, it will be very interesting to see who wins Horse of the Year on Monday!  We're hoping for Rachel for obvious reasons here. Big Smile

  • All they said was that it depends on her training and schedule, but that they would love to meet up with RA.  I actually think it could be a race at Oaklawn bc last year there was talk of the two meeting up there in a filly/mare stakes race.

RA and Z both have big wins over that track and both jockeys say their horse really took well to it.  Plus it is kinda a midway point for both and not eithers home track.   But that is all speculation and so we will have to see.

Breeders cup is at Churchill this year, so I will be going so I would love to see the two meet up then.  Ahhh so excited.

Oh me too except my reasons aren't as obvious.  But I think Z will get it.  It almost always goes to the horse that performs best at the end of the season.

Not to knock Z because I am in awe at her accomplishments and the way she won the Breeders cup.  But Rachel faced males three times, broke track records in two or three of her races, broke Ruffians winning margin length in a race, nearly broke the Haskell track record in the slop, and beat older males in a race never won by any female horse ever as a 3 year old.  She also raced and won 9 races this year all over the country as opposed to Z wining 5 (or was it 4?) all in CA.

Edited to add:  I am really really hoping you have a girl just for the record.  When do you find out??

Geez, I feel like such an amateur with my info next to you! Wink  We find out on Jan. 26th (only about a week away!) hoping that LO decides to cooperate this time.  DH and I are also planning on going to the Breeder's Cup this year since our plans to go to the Derby aren't going to work this year.  I don't think 12 hours in the car while 8 months pregnant would be the greatest idea.

I have already decided I have to plan my kids around the Derby.  I am kidding, I think.  Of course for me it is only a 2 1/2 hour drive.  Maybe we can meet up at the Breeders cup and have a BOTB-BC get together!

Yes, a BC BOTB get together would be so much fun!  We'd definitely be in!  And I've already had a talk with LO that he/she must not make a surprise appearance before the Triple Crown is done. Stick out tongue

Too funny.  Too bad we don't live closer to each other.  Our babies could be friends and commiserate about their TB crazy mom's craziness.
