I am jumping over here from 2nd tri to ask a quick question. DH and I are getting ready to register and with so much baby stuff out there, I am just wondering what you ladies truely feel you need for baby and what things you didn't need.
any input would great! Thanks!
ETA- just saw the post below me that posted was I was typing this one- I guess this is a common thought today.
Re: What do you need and not need?
Definitely Need: (I'll highlight and link to the ones I have)
The Bouncer Chair - it helped my LO take naps while fussy since he was a few weeks old. We have this at my mom's house.
Papasan Swing - Again, great for motion and to keep them occupied.
Travel System - We got the Metrolite since we both have bad backs and even that is heavy!
Seahorse - helps him tune into lullabyes
Monitor - helps us tune into him
I'll add more as I think ..
EDIT: Ok, a few more necessities:
set of baby towels (we have like 6 and sometimes I feel like that isn't enough) - we use one for his baths, face, nightime messes, etc.
onesies with mitten cuffs so they don't scratch themselves
lots of socks to keep their little feet warm
lots of cloth diapers to use as burp clothes, etc. You'll be surprised how much you use them!
I love these microwave sterilizer bags - so convenient!!!
"Wearing his BING CROSBY clothes and crooning...buuuh buuh buuuh"
lots of onesies, i regretted not having enough cause who wants to do laundry all the time, especially in the beginning, and he goes thru at least two a day provided we don't have any diaper leaks or blow outs.
also diapers are great to get as gifts but i wish we would have waited to see what brand we like. i ended up liking pampers, but now I have a closet full of huggies and I hate them. Babies R Us will exchange them though provided they were bought there.
just my two cents. good luck!
It really depends a lot on you and on the baby. I have a ton of burp cloths and bibs but have yet to use them much because DD doesn`t spit up vary often (she`s done it maybe 4 times total).
Personally at this age, I have found that not having a stroller is easier than having to deal with one (We use slings and wraps instead)
I definitely recommend a bouncer chair of some kind. Its great for having a place to put LO when you need a bit of a break from holding them or if you need a place to put them so that you can do things around the house.
Swing, onesies with mittens, mittens, recieving blankets big enough for swaddling, diapers that show if they have peed, a boppy (even if you are not planning on BFing this is so nice to have, we use it all the time), baby wash cloths and towels.
I think that what you really need depends on you and your lifestyle but these are the things we use all the time.
Oh, and if you are BFing, disposable pads to go into your bras.
