40w ?

So for any of you ladies who were showing little to no effacement and at most 1cm dilated at your 40 week check up....did you go into labor on your own before 41 weeks or were you induced?

TIA

Re: 40w ?

  • I'm on the wrong board, but I was 1.5cm from 36 weeks and haven't progressed since. ?My induction date is Tuesday. ?

  • At my 40 week appointment, I had had no progress.  They scheduled me that day to be induced four days later.  My induction failed, and I ended up having an emergency c-section (which I loved btw).

  • I was 2cm at my 40w appointmen.  My follow up appointment at 40w5d, I was 3cm.  My membranes were stripped at my 40w appointment and 40w5d.  I was sent to the hospital to be induced the same day.  When I arrived...about 45 minutes later....I was 4cm.

I'd started early labor 40w4d with lots of cramping.

  • I had NOTHING.. No progress at all and went into labor on my due date.  Before then I was convinced I would be late because it seemed like everyone else had some sort of progress.  She didn't even drop until I was in labor. 16 hrs of labor, 20-25 mins of pushing.  GL!

  • I was 1 cm (laughable) at 40 weeks, had my membranes stripped. Nothing.

Went back in at 40 weeks 5 days because I was starting to swell pretty bad, she stripped my membranes again. My water broke at 4am the next morning.

26 hours of labour, pitocin, 9cm dialiated, DD was not coming down. Emergency C-section.

  • wow...keeping my fingers crossed!!  They said his head IS down there so at least there's that, but she couldn't even strip my membranes because I was too closed and they do not intend to see me before the induction date. So if I don't go into labor on my own then induction it is. Boooooooooo

  • I went in to labor the morning i was suppost to be induced
  • I was induced at 39 weeks because of blood pressure concerns with absolutely no progress. I was given cervadil and 12 hours later started pitocin. Labor was super smooth and the induction with I had been dreading was a total success.

  • Induced at 42 weeks, 34 hours of labor ended in a C/S.  It sucked that it went the OPPOSITE of how I wanted, but it wasn't that bad.  I promise.
  • I had nothing at 40 weeks and my water broke the next morning, really early.  You never know,  My dr thought I would end up with an induction.

Thank you for posting this. I'm in the same exact predicament... induction scheduled for Wednesday, and hoping desperately I go on my own before then!

  • At my 40w appointment, I had no progress -- closed and soft. My water broke the next morning and DS2 was born that night.

  • That was me w/ DD1. I went into labor on my own at 40w6d, the day before I was supposed to be induced. I still wasn't progressing well, so they would have sent me home had I not been ready to go in to be induced anyway. So they started me on pitocin and it went smoothly from there.

  • I was scheduled to be induced and went into labor the night before.  Actually, I was not effaced or dilated and when I got to the hospital I was 5cm.  Everything happened so fast! I ended up having my son natural.  Good Luck!
