3rd Trimester

Any elders..

still getting sleep? I have not been able to sleep for the past 3 nights and it is driving me crazy. I am not falling asleep until my husbands alarm goes off. So I have averaged about 4 hours of sleep each night or well morning. Just wanted to know if anyone else is having this problem. Sorry for the complaining.

Re: Any elders..

  • I am except for last night I was keyed up trying to follow the advice of the chiro to relax and destress.  But, normally I can sleep otherwise the morning sickness kicks in and I don't feel well all day which doesn't really go hand in hand with a toddler.

  • I'm sorry you're not getting sleep :( Maybe it's your body preparing for what's to come?? I sleep very well, actually... wake up anywhere between 2-4, am up on the couch for an hour or so, then fall back asleep. Trying not to get used to these long stretches at night!!
  • Nope, sleep is hard for me too! I usually end up with about 4 hours in the night and then take a 2 hour nap during the day... at least for this past week since I haven't been working.

  • I do ok- I went to bed last night at 9:30, was up 3-4 times to pee and drink some water, then woke up at 7:30 this morning. I am keeping very active so I think that helps me get more rest. You could always try a Tylenol PM- it's important to be well rested so you have energy for labor.
  • I sleep like a rock... with the exception of waking up 3 or 4 times a night a pee... falling asleep is the worst for me but once I'm asleep, I'm good.
  • If Im lucky I get 2 hours at a time usually more like up every hour on the hour...I think it's normal and getting you ready for LO

  • No sleep.. I logged maybe 4 hours last night.
  • Wow -- I'm an elder now!

I've been having trouble sleeping for the past few weeks, what with getting up to pee every two hours, the belly weight (no position is comfortable!) and then the heartburn and nausea to top it all off. I've probably been clocking in around four hours a night too. Luckily I work from home and I've been trying to cut down on my assignments to prep for "maternity leave," so I've been able to manage a nap here and there during the day.

As a PP said, it probably is just nature's way of prepping us for when our LOs arrive. But grrrr! Because everyone's always telling me to get some sleep when I can!

  • I have been utterly exhausted for a few weeks now.  There are days I am so tired I just start crying.  I can sleep in about 3-4 hour increments, but it is very hard to fall back to sleep. I will lay in bed for 3 hours just hoping I can fall back to sleep soon. The only time I actually feel I get enough rest to function is on the weekends when I can sleep in.

  • I get about 2-3 hours at a time between pees.
  • I sleep for the most part.  When I get up to do my nightly 3 pees, if my DH is snoring I have to move to the couch to continue to get sleep.

That happened to me last night! I got up to pee, went back to bed, and DH was snoring and I just couldn't fall asleep. I came and laid down in the living room for the rest of the night. If he does that while we are in the hospital he's going HOME. :)?
