Cora ....and other mom's dealing with spit up

Cora, if I remember right you had to bring Nicholas in for his spitting up.... am I right? Emma's been doing this lately and it's worrying me. We had her in the ER today because she had some projectile spits last night, and early this morning kept spitting up what I'd feed her. They sent us home because they couldn't find anything wrong and she was fine while we were there. Can you tell me what his symptoms were? We're trying some Mylicon drops now for her as she seems to be having some gas pains as well. The doc said something about some disorder in her Intestines that may be causing the spit ups and gas....

Anyone with any advice or experience I'd love to hear it!

I didn't have this problem, but I think Cora's baby had pyloric stenosis and they did an ultrasound to diagnose it. Her LO is doing well now!

Spitting up can be very normal in babies. The most important thing is if baby is gaining weight. Then we look at whether baby is happy with these episodes or miserable and uncomfortable - this is the difference between normal spit-up (physiologic reflux) or GERD (pathologic reflux). It's very hard to tell the volume of spit-up, so having your baby weighed can be very helpful. Pyloric stenosis is another cause of vomiting - much more common in males - and usually described as "projectile" vomiting. Does that help or answer your question?
