MoMs - did you sterilize all the bottles, pacis, etc.. before delivering?

...And if so, how did you store them to keep them "clean" until the babies came home. I am going to deliver in the next few weeks and would like to sterilize all the bottles beforehand, but don't know if this is a waste of time?  I plan on pumping and hopefully BFing too..

Thanks in advance! Big Smile

Re: MoMs - did you sterilize all the bottles, pacis, etc.. before delivering?

  • I didn't because I wanted to figure out which bottles worked best before I opened them all. I ended up using little bottles I could pump into with preemie nipples that the hospital gave me for the first month or so. I had plenty of time to try out bottles and figure out what was going to work the best!

  • No, but I was in the hospital on bedrest and then they were in the NICU so we had some time.

  • I waited till the girls came home from the NICU to sterilize cause I too wanted to see which bottles worked best before opening them all. Plus the hospital gave us some formula in individual bottles so all we had to do was add the nipple and after that we used the breastmilk storage containers as bottles too (I breast and formula feed).
  • I boiled the nipples and then just put them into a rubbermaid container in our baby closet.  I just washed all the bottles in the DW and then put them in the closet.
  • thanks for the advice ladies - I am trying to get as much as possible organized before i deliver while I still have free time, but I guess it is better to just wait and see if they spend time in the NICU, if I can BF, etc.. first :)
