Last night we had our first Bradley birthing class (the first of 8) and I wanted to share a little about our experience. We are one of three couples in the class and its held at our instructor?s home. After introductions and ?getting to know you? activities, we talked about the birthing process, kegels, stretches and exercises to relieve various aches/pains, breathing during labor, relaxation and watched a natural labor video.
She was sure to include our husbands in everything including how they can assist with the stretches and relaxation. The class is really focused on preparing your mind and body for labor as well as connecting with your husband to make the labor an experience for both of you.
Our class was $295 and included the workbook. We have a binder full of materials that we can copy (the originals belong to our instructor) and bring home each week as well as access to her library of childbirth books/dvd and workout dvds.
All in all, I?m super excited about this class and can?t wait for next week! DH started off skeptical, but really enjoyed feeling like he was an important player in the birth of our baby.
Just wanted to share some feedback for anyone that is considering taking Bradley Classes.
Re: Last Night's Bradley Birthing Class
We're doing our first Bradley class on Sunday and I'm super excited.
One question though: these are supposed to be twelve week courses, how did you find an eight week one?
Thank you!
We will be starting ours on 2/21 - a series of 6 classes. I am loking forward to them even more now
i found her under the instructor section of bradleybirth.com. my instructor holds classes per group based on due date. i contacted her about 2 weeks ago and that was just in time to start this class. good luck!
BFP #2 1/22/2012 ~ DS2 & DD ~ BIRTHday 9/13/2012 ~ unplanned C-section @ 38w1d
i'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as i did!!! there's someone in the class who is 2 weeks ahead of me (due mid-april) so she's condensing the 12 weeks into 8 sessions. we were there for almost 2 hours last night.
my instructor sent me a syllabus ahead of time so i knew what would be covered each week. if you're intrested, i would recommend seeing if an instructor in your area could send you a detailed description of the classes week by week.
I just checked out the website - it looks really interesting. Thanks for the info, I am thinking of doing this.
