I don't know but the first time I used a Mac I was so confused that I thought I should just use the mouse left-handed (I'm right-handed). I figured it would be more appropriate considering how backwards everything was for me.
My husband explained that they use their memory differently. He's a software engineer and I didn't 100% understand what he was saying, but the gist I got was that the Mac OS makes better use of available memory, helping things to run more quickly.
I have my degree in computer science, and can say there are a ton of differences.
Most importantly, Macs were created to be on a network, PC's were created to be stand-alone on a desktop. This is why Macs have an easier time with the internet and security.
The operating system is different. The Mac is much easier to use once you learn it. I bought my Mom one for xmas, and she is already a pro.
Macs are more expensive, but I spend way less time troubleshooting my Macs than I do my PCs.
Again, the only reason why Macs have fewer security issues is because fewer people use them. As Mac users increase, hackers will find targeting the Mac more of a worthwhile pursuit. "Security-through-obscurity" is not a true win.
>95% of computer-owners use PC. If you are a general user who thinks Apple and Mac have no differences, then PC may be better as it is more compatible with the majority of programs.
The reason I bought a mac was because there are no damn viruses. I had numerous PC's crash due to viruses. Could I have virus protected better? probably, but my mac does it for me. Saves alot of time, frustration and energy. I my mac!
Macs cost more and look cooler. There are far fewer options and less software, although most of the major software is available on a Mac. PCs are more common, come in a huge variety and mostly run Windows which can be a giant pain in the butt. But yes, they are both computers.
