WWYD: Keira fell and hit her head

TWICE. Same freaking spot, same way.

She seems fine, other than a red mark on the back of her head. She fell backwards--completely unbroken fall from her stand up toy and hit our pop-onz toys. They are very hard and pokey. She only fell from standing up but she cried like no other cry in the world. Broke my heart. I am sure she is fine--they can't be hurt too badly like that right? I will watch for vomiting. Anything else I should look out for? She does not have any welts or swollen spots that I could find. And she did it TWICE. Poor little thing.

Re: WWYD: Keira fell and hit her head

  • Now that Holly is walking some, this happens all.the.time... It still freaks me out, but I realize that she mostly screams like that because it scares her. Usually after some hugs, she's fine.

If she's not acting out of the ordinary, I'd just continue to keep an eye on her, but she's probably just fine.

  • disorientation, lack of eye contact, excessive sleepiness outside of normal bedtime... you can always put a bit of ice on it to help with the swelling, especially since i'm assuming that it'd be in a place where while she's sleeping, she'll be laying on it.  i'd try to do it right before bed if she's sleepy and/or another quiet/wind-down time, wrapped in a wash cloth.

  • Poor Keira ... that is so sad! :(

I'm quite certain that babies heads are resiliant ... Savannah has taken one to the noggin many a times - even on our hardwood floor!

You know your baby best ... just look for something that makes her seem out of the ordinary!

Ditto this. Acting out of the ordinary, unusually sleepy, vomiting. The fact that she cried right away is actually a good sign.
