Bump baby name trends 2010

Anyone see this yet: https://pregnant.thebump.com/baby-names/all-about-baby-names/articles/baby-name-trends-2010.aspx?MsdVisit=1

I'm so sad b/c my daughter's name is on the popular list and three of the possibilities for this baby are on the list too.  I know I can name my baby what I want, but I don't want a child who is going to be 1 of 5 in a class.  Back to the drawing board I guess.

Re: Bump baby name trends 2010

  • My DS's name is on the list, which bums me out a tiny bit but I can't say I am surprised, DS #2's name is not and I don't know if it will ever be!

I guess that's a little funny that one DS will have a very common name and one DS will have a very unusual name!

  • I cannot for the life of me think of any baby names.  At least Jack's given name is John so he can go by that if Jack is too prevalent in his class.

Twilight names are trendy?  Oy.  I hope no one names their baby Renesme.

  • I totally love the classic names too. One of my potential names if we have a girl is Olivia. :( But I don't know that I can change the kinds of names I like...

I totally joked the other day that if the twins turn out to be BG we could name them Edward and Bella. Totally joking though.

I'm still trying to come up w/ a few for myself; most of my ideas are from the last time around.  So no originality here either.

  • HAHA! DD's name is becoming very popular. Oh well.

I love this line "and Amelia? It's just plain adorable"

I have to agree with that!

no, no silly. we're supposed to combine our own mother's names to come up w/our very own twilight friendly girls name!

  • I was so worried about the Twilight this we took my favorite girls name off of the list...Campbell, becuase the nickname would be Bell and there will be a zillion of those now (even though it was slightly popular before).  Turns out we are having a boy so it is a non-issue!

I have loved the name Olivia for YEARS!  Even b/f it become one of the hottest names on the list.  So I gave up that hope even b/f DD was conceived b/c of its popularity.

Its DD's name as well.  Despite my dismay at its rising popularity, I had to chuckle and shake my head in total agreement when reading that line as well.  :)

Ooohhhh, I get it!  Then if I have a girl, she shall be named Arleren!  Beautiful, huh?

  • I always knew I wanted Elizabeth...Katherine worked with it -

Katherine = MIL middle name (I didnt know tha before I picked it...just worked out that way...)

Elizabeth = My grandmother middle name...

If we were to have had a boy - his name would have been Julius (after my hubby) Ishmael (because I like the meaning - which is biblical for God has Heard)

Yep! It has been my girl name since before I even knew if I wanted kids. So.... it could be number 1 and I would not have changed my mind. Lucky for me DH loved the name as well.

  • it's frustrating for me b/c I have liked the names Grace, Olivia, Hannah, etc for YEARS. They were highlighted in my baby name book since I was like 12 and now they are popular. UGH.

How funny! My niece is named Campbell, and I've never heard of another little girl with that name. (She's 8, so that's saying something). No one has ever, ever called her Bell. Sometimes she's Cam, but mostly it's just Campbell.

  • I'm getting worried about the popularity of the names I like also.   But last night I was looking up names on Social Security's site and I feel a little better.  In the 70s when Jennifer was BIG there were 60,000 Jennifers in a year.  Last year Emma was #1 with only 18,000.  So in general people are using more names and even if it is a "popular" name, there won't be quite as many as there were Jennifers.  I still don't know how I'm ever going to name this little girl though.

I LOVE the name Lochlan. DH isn't on board though. It's very popular in Ireland. I believe it was in the top 10 names for boys there.

Interesting- I never thought of it that way.

  • This bums be out as well. When we picked DD's name we thought it wasn't popular and that was one of the reasons why we loved it to much. Oh well, what can you do?? We still love it. Hopefully like you say, she isn't 1 of 5 Amelia's in her class...
