This is totally irrational re: baby names.

I always laugh at people who get huffy over claiming names...

My cousin just told me she's thinking of using our grandma's name for her DD's middle name and now I'm annoyed. Why? Got me. I wanted to name a boy after my grandma (her name is jacqueline, so i was going to do Jack for a boy). I guess I still can if I have one, but I'll look like a bandwagon jumper.

Like I said, irrational. So here I am eating my words when I laughed at your vents!

  • I would still do it in your case - especially because a) Jack and Jacqueline are 2 different names and b) it is your cousin, not your sib  and c) (most importantly) she is using it as a middle name, which NEVER gets used.

  • hey I'm not about name claiming either but you bet I was mad when BIL named DD#2 Naomi- that meant I couldn't use Noah or Nathan as a second boy name because DS and his DD#1 share the same initials so I don't want our second kids sharing the same initials.
