I was just reading your response to the preschool question and was wondering how you liked Sunnyside? It's on my list to call and get info for next year. Right now we are doing a toddler class at a place here in Marysville, and I like it, but am not sure about moving up to their preschool program next year. I want to look around more before deciding.

It was a very postive experience for us. At the time, Cindy was running the preschool out of her home, she has since relocated to the Frontier Village area and has several teachers and classrooms. Her theories are that kids learn from play and has very little structured activities. They did music, spanish, art and story time, but it was so well blended into play that it didn't seem like it was a "sit here and do this" kind of thing. Snacks were always apples and water, unless someone had a birthday and brought something to share. One of her things is Risk Watch, which is a safety education program. They learn playground safety, choking safety (including the Heimlich) and fire safety. The fire safety centers a lot around the Lake Stevens Fire Department and the Fire Chief is very involved.
At the end of the year she has a giant picnic field day at a farm on Whidbey Island. It's a ranch that caters to special needs families, with horse rides, rescued cows and a western town. She volunteers with this group and as a result they let her have the ranch for her picnic.
Also, as a side, one of her teachers, Katie, was a coach at the gym I worked at when she was going to school for her teaching degree. She is very passionate about education and loves kids, so I was excited to see her listed as a teacher for Sunnyside.
