New Jersey Babies

daycare pricing for Middlesex county?

DH and I are having our first LO, and are going to start looking for a daycare/nanny for when I have to go back to work, 6-8 weeks after birth.  We have NO idea how much any of this costs, but would like to know approximate costs before starting to look, so we know where to start!

So, in ballpark numbers, how much does daycare vs. nanny vs. in-home daycare cost in central jersey?   We live in Woodbridge twp, and will be looking for somewhere around there.  Also, if you have any recommendations, please let me know! :-)

TIA!

  • Are you against someone watching the baby in their home?  Most places i looked into were around $175-$250 a week.  I was actually looking in your area b/c its on my way to work.  I dont know how far along you are but some places you may have trouble getting into.  We started looking at about 16 weeks and I was told by quite a few places they were already booked for when I go back to work ( I am taking 12 weeks) Good luck and try not to stress!

  • I don't have a problem with someone watching the baby in their home, as long as I was comfortable with them, and sure that they weren't just going to plop the baby in front of the TV all day.

I didn't think I'd have to start looking so early!  I guess I'd better get on it.  LOL

  • I'm in North Jersey and the place we're looking at is arond $1200-$1300 a month full time infant from 7-6:30 pm
  • How do you find people who watch children in their home? Any recommendations for that? I work from home some of the time, and we have a 2 BR condo...so I think a nanny in my home would be difficult - I'd feel like it was too close for comfort.
